I will admit. This is the first testimonial for Kick Your Fat in the Nuts that came with a dog’s before and after pictures. Good stuff!
I met Nissa (Addie’s owner), in the free and private Facebook support group we set up for our book readers. One day Nissa posted this image with the following post.
Here is Nissa’s full story:
After I had my son the last thing I wanted to think of was losing weight. Again. As a reformed, lifelong yo-yo dieter, I wanted to focus more on cuddling this new bundle and less on crying over the scale. Unfortunately, that daydream faded fast when I realized I probably could not wear my summer maternity clothes all winter long.
I set a nearly impossible goal to lose seventy five pounds. I’ve never really lost more than twenty to thirty pounds at any given stretch, but I thought I should aim high and be happy if I could eventually fit into my fat (non-maternity) jeans. I went back to all of my tried and true methods of calorie counting, fat cutting and online weight trackers. Months later the scale barely budged.
While searching for even more information about weight loss, I came across a book that seemed like it could really help me. No, not Kick Your Fat in the Nuts. But since Kick Your Fat in the Nuts was listed for free on Amazon at the time, I decided to download both books. I immediately read the original weight loss book I found. After another month or so there were still no miracles happening on the scale. Losing two pounds one week only to regain a pound the next week didn’t nudge me any closer to my massive goal. It was at this point I remembered that other book I downloaded. It was something about eating a lot of nuts to lose weight. At this point it couldn’t hurt, so I decided to check it out.
Wow. Not only did it not hurt, it truly changed my life (And I discovered I did not have to eat any nuts to lose weight). I started off just wanting to get back into my fat jeans (because let’s face it, my skinny jeans were never happening at the pace conventional dieting advice was leading me), but it changed every aspect of my ailing health as I knew it. I was able to fix health problems I didn’t even know I had, not to mention problems that plagued me for as long as I could remember.
At first I was a little skeptical about some of the knowledge shared in the book since it went against so many things I’ve been told throughout my twenty five years of losing and regaining the same weight. I decided to just trust what I read since nothing I’ve done in the past really kept the weight off. Once I got going with the ideas presented in the book and podcasts, the weight really did start melting off and the health problems were knocked out one by one.
One year later I am just about to my original goal of seventy five pounds. Recently I cleaned out my medicine cabinet of remedies I used on a daily basis previously. I started to think about all of the health problems I dealt with that this book helped me to correct: almost monthly sinus infections that required prescription medications (haven’t had one in over a year); cystic acne with multiple rounds of Accutane and prescription creams (now my skin is smooth and clear); frequent migraines and tension headaches (so long Advil, Tylenol and ER visits); constant postnasal drip and itchy skin (haven’t opened the Claritin or Nasenol in months); frequent anxiety and occasional depression (been off St. John’s Wort for over a year); daily heartburn, bloating and gas cramps (I got rid of my huge bottles of Tums, Pepto and GasX); years of back/neck/shoulder and ankle pain (I have better posture and no longer am a senior-citizen-walking in my thirties); frequent colds (threw out the cold meds that made me into a living zombie). All of that plus I am now able to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep. Even with a toddler I still get eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. (Previously it took hours to fall asleep and I was lucky if I stayed asleep for a few hours straight.) Oh, and I poop! Before I thought pooping once per week was normal. It’s not. Who knew? I also believe I was on a path to becoming diabetic. I had gestational diabetes and by the blood sugar readings I took months after giving birth, I was essentially diabetic. My blood sugar is now completely normal.
I originally set out to lose some of the baby weight I gained. I ended up with knowledge that I am certain will help me thrive for a lifetime. In previous weight loss attempts I always felt horrible as the weight came off and even worse trying to keep it off. Now that I have fixed my digestion and no longer follow mainstream diet wisdom, I have more than enough energy to keep up with my busy toddler and I am confident the weight will not come back as soon as I start eating the crap foods again. This is mostly because I no longer crave the crap foods. I look forward to a much healthier life for myself and my shrinking family. Hey, I even used the book’s message to help my dog shed some excess weight. Obviously I cannot say enough positive things about the book and the podcasts.
